When parents give their health/veteran’s children’s storybooks

We have created research-based resources for children of veterans or serving members who have service-related:

  1. injuries,
  2. mental health conditions, and
  3. medical and mental health conditions.

The resources include storybooks to assist children of veterans or members who have given their health to understand some of the challenges and changes that happen in families when a parent has service-related health or mental health issues.

We also have modules for parents and family workers to assist them in better supporting young children in these families.

Here is a video showing the first few pages of the book. An interactive version of this book has been developed to deepen children’s learning. The activities were devised by Legacy Family Workers (led by Tegan Kanard NSW Legacy), veteran parents and partners, an early childhood inclusion support consultant (Emily Small), an expert in early childhood digital technology (Jo Bird) and a researcher of children from military families (Marg Rogers).
