Sandi Smolders is the audio reader for the read-along version of this story. Sandi was born and grew up in a rural community in north-western NSW. She had a long career in the early childhood sector, as a generalist and specialist music teacher. She started early childhood music lessons in her community which are still running today, despite her retirement. She also worked as a teacher educator at TAFE.

Dr Bert Jenkins is the video reader for this story. Bert was born in a rural community in Sri Lanka where his father was the manager of a tea plantation. He moved to the city for school and later moved to Australia to attend university. During his tertiary training, Bert had 5 years service in the Army Reserve. Bert used his training to work in the sugar cane industry in Bundaberg, Queensland. Bert attended university in Brisbane and then started his PhD in Armidale at UNE. Bert worked in Switzerland for two years in research. He later became a lecturer at UNE, teaching in many different areas, including environmental and peace studies. Bert grew up speaking English, Sinhala and Tamil. You can learn to say 'hello' and 'see you later' in Sinhala by listening to the recordings of Bert below.
