Service families and other families can be impacted by moral injury due to the nature of the parents' work. This module supports children's and parent's understanding of moral injury and how it impacts behaviour and family life.
This module contains:
1. a research-based storybook (for children, parents and support workers)
2. research-based resources and links to support (for parents N.B. there is another module for support workers).

The book is not suitable for all children; instead, it is designed especially for children living with a parent with a moral injury. It was created to improve children's understanding of what happens in their family when a parent has a moral injury. It is not for general group or classroom reading. It is designed for one-to-one reading sessions with these potentially vulnerable children and their families and their parent/carer, educator, support worker, or therapist to start conversations. It is a bibliotherapy book.
The book is aimed at children who are about 5-12 years old. If you would like to share it with an older child, we suggest you ask them to read it to their younger sibling. This provides them with access to the book but avoids feeling that they are being given a young children's book. Also, teenagers with reasonably good comprehension will be able to read the research pages.
