Massiel Barros-Torning is the audio reader for the interactive version of this story. Massiel was born in Valparaiso, Chile, then spent time in a rural coastal village until she migrated to Sydney with her parents as a toddler. The family moved from Gladesville to Granville in Sydney, where Massiel attended school. After school, she started an apprenticeship as a rigger, learning how to make and rig parachutes, but then got an offer to study at UNE, so moved to the New England area of NSW. Massiel has enjoyed a broad career and continued study throughout her life. She has worked as a weeds officer, a TAFE teacher, a university lecturer in IT education, a music teacher and a musician. You can listen to Massiel sign some of the eBooks by looking at the Key Word Sign resources in the programs and listen to her sing her own composition 'We Remember' in this module. Massiel's first language is Spanish. You can also learn to say 'hello', 'how are you' and 'goodbye' in Spanish by listening to Massiel in the recordings below.

N.B. The interactives DO NOT work on phones. They are for iPads, tablets, PCs and Macs.
Before you use interactives with children, please make sure they:
1. know the story really well (at least read the book 4 times)
2. explore the interactives 5-10 pages at a time to deepen their understanding of specific ideas in the book.
For more information on why this is important, please view this video.
