    N.B. This book should only be used with children whose parents have a service-related injury, medical condition and/or mental health condition. Please pre-read the book before you read it with children.

      All eBooks, downloadable (printable) versions of the book, and educational materials are free. You can also order a commercial, professionally printed:

      You are not paying for author royalties, illustrators, graphic designers or technicians. You are paying for a commercial printery (Fuji Xerox Australia) to do on-demand printing, a commercial bookstore (UNE Life Campus Books) to process and pack the online order, Australia Post, a $2 donation to Legacy Australia, and $2-3 for the ECDP project to host their website and continue to provide revisions and updates to the materials, and new resources. The postage and handling is a $14 flat fee for as many books and teaching materials as you like via regular post (so, think about ordering with friends, your organisation, your early childhood service or school). Express Post and International Postage is calculated by weight. Once you click on the link, you can search for the books by typing 'Defence' into the search bar, or the name of the particular book you are after.

    • Somayeh ba Akhlagh is the video reader for this story. She is from a regional city in the north-east of Iran. She was educated in school and university in Iran and then moved to Australia in 2007 for post-graduate study in early childhood education. Somayeh worked as an early childhood educator in Iran and NSW and worked with pre-service educators in TAFE and a university before joining the early childhood team at UNE. Somayeh's first language is Farsi which is the official language of Iran. You can learn how to say 'hello' and 'goodbye' in Farsi below.
